take 1
- i added that line about the party.... so they should come in in a more stately and ummmmm deliberate manner
- miss bingley introduce herself?
- longer time to spend dancing between jane and bingley
- bingley and darcy can be like standing straight on head on to the audience..... elizabeth should be like physically BEHIND them.....
go back
- elizabeth and jane can be a little bit more up front
- miss bingley and darcy can tend toward the back more..... like let that represent him not having fun, being in the back, only coming forward when he’s speaking
- jane should be a bit more nervous a bit more formal especially when charlotte and elizabeth are talking about how she ought to express more than she feels
- charlotte and elizabeth, after you are left by the others, you might walk around a little bit, just like shift it around a little to mark a new dialogue moment
- maybe during that awkward silence.... some more glances back and forth to make it seem even more awkward... but i loved the civility and the curtseying
- 'mr. darcy is all politeness' let’s sit in that moment a little longer, darcy can be a little bit more like pained almost.... to extend his hand
- 'and that is exactly the question i expected' - make it more distinct like be a little more d
take 2
- the reactions of the ensemble should be like..... reverent almost or like surprised or like you know..... like have reaction...... have a big reaction to them coming and again the bingley party can enter more proudly
- 'such amiable qualities must speak for themselves...' lady can be more deliberate and stuff.............. ummm maybe she could draw out the speech,. make it less dead air? or something... like yes you’re ushering them onto the stage but i want you to have full command over the whole cast you know.... like keep our attention, keep our attention.
- bingley cheat more to the audience
- dance a second time? maybe we need to add a first dance, or like a spin or something... so they really do dance a second time...
- 'with your good sense'... maybe more gestural... more reverent
- 'ugh look at mr. darcy' is great
- EVERYONE CAN PROJECT MORE, LETS TRY PROJECTING MORE
- everyone can also cheat more toward the audience
- charlotte take more of a moment to like look at bingley and jane, and let us see you look at them for a second
- miss bingley acting while not acting shoutout... very in character, the body language, the glances, everything, so good, love it
- let's have darcy be talking to bingley a little bit before that line of the 'fine eyes,' so it's not so abrupt transition into the convo with bingley
- nice awkward silence charlotte LOVED IT.....
- the dancing during the sir william thing is genius GENIUS..... PERFECT COMEDIC TIMING
- mrs. hurst go away toward the end..... because we need a second for miss bingley and darcy by themselves....
- loved your exit darcy.... but perhaps like look back while she gives that last line
take 3
- 'they were obliged to wait'.... all bennets come out first followed by lucases
- hopefully by 'such amiable qualities must speak for themselves' we will be well on our way to bingley and jane dancing
- 'sitting behind you' elizabeth can you possibly be center back? and jane will go up and grab her and bring her to the front. BEHIND is the name of the game
- “EYE did FOR you” lizzy - micro nitpick
- i like darcy and miss bingley talking amongst themselves
- mrs. bennet you can be almost resentful to charlotte... 'civil self-command' as in like..... she's having to put on airs... and then againthe note of hearing the compliment and running with it, switch on a dime
- little lucas can really come front and center like that's yoour one moment HAVE ITTTT girly have your moment make it big and make it childlike you're a literal child why are you even at this ball lol
- charlotte stand on business. be a little more insistent on your opinion...i like the tag of ouoyuur conversation where you keep talking, that was cool... eliza and charlotte is good
- 'loo-king-at-me-so....' so funny eliza
- 'i would rather not' great improv lizzy - IN GENERAL yeah you guys can give little lines like that if it feels right
- amazing 'mr. darcy is all politeness' transition well done
- miss bingley... 'the nothingness yet the self importance'... i wanna see almost like ...... hatred almost like disgust in it....
- i loved watching elizabeth while darcy looks at her and we see her vivacity when she talks with her family i loved thattttt i loved it
- darcy... 'lady’s imagination is very rapid'... you can even walk in the other direction and like prepare to leave..... and like yeah exit
take 4
- don't come in until she says 'they were obliged to wait'
- and then on entry it’s like much more confident quick fluid motions
- i like the pauses lady does at times.. i like that... and the looks she gives them, i like that as well
- elizabeth be behind him.... strategic placing yourself
- 'not handsome enough to tempt me'..... is when jane will go up to her and bring her to the front...
- maybe elizabeth is like intentionally eavesdropping? and jane interrupts her from it and brings her to stage front
- mrs. bennet keeping the book from mary is genius
- 'and say nothing of the bad' is more of an effusion than an accusation. let’s make it more like genuine admiration... and like awe almost.. you're in awe that she could even be so....... good!
- 'oh you mean jane'... i would like if we had an uninterrupted view of jane and bingley during that... so like lil lucas and mary can step back perhaps.... just as if you're speaking you should be in the front, if not speaking you should not be in the front
- mary you can speak a little slower, more stately, almost politician-like... main thing is more slowly
- mrs. bennet keep arguing with young lucas after the wine line... keep arguing and like let us hear the arguing it’s okay....... and then from that, elizabeth and charlotte come to the front and emerge their conversation
- NEVER BACK TO THE AUDIENCE PLEASE let me see bingley's face
- charlotte i like your delivery of this matter of fact thing..... and i want you to even be more firm, more confident in your things... like when elizabeth says that you'd never do it..... be more confident stand on business
- elizabeth is it possible to blush... like make ur face turn red..... like i want deep embarrassment from it... that was really good it stood for a good moment
- elizabeth hopefully there will be someone behind darcy... so it’s making more sense...... like huntington patient when they pass it off for something else u know... like mrs. bennet maybe she’s over there in stage left back? so you can be back there talking to them....
- and then after that darcy and miss bennet should be like truly front and center and elizabeth to the back
- i like the murmurings like yeah that actually works have fun with it let yourself
take 5
- bingley more front and center... lady can step to the side perhaps for hersecond paragraph.... she can gesture toward the and like invite them with thatkind of flourish
- everything can be faster and more confident
- bingley especially
- bingley like turn around and walk to center stage and be confident... the main thing with bingley is be more lively and more unreserved
- and we should like see him catch a glimpse of darcy and like bow politely to exit convo with jane.... remember the civilitiies
- elizabeth be put off by what darcy said, and jane’s happiness melts away your resentment
- jane should go up to elizabeth and like invite her into a conversation - CENTER STAGE (more center, anyway)
- ok so miss bingley needs to go meet the bennets as well so the line makes sense where jane says 'we’ll find a good neighor in her'
- darcy needs to 'walk here and walk there' like mrs. bennet says
- mary be a little more academic
- the RULE needs to be that people will come to front stage when they’re talking. find a way to do it
- we should have more mingling more movement, less one dimensionalness, less flatness, more liveliness
- 'let him know i see what he is about' you are all confident and like fieryand then you lose your will like i'm about to eat him up... and then you can't...
- charlotte opening the instrument is like... after an awkward silence to help her
- maybe elizabeth should go over to the piano.... or charlotte drags her over there to save her from the situation with darcy... and then mary barges over.... and then elizabeth goes back over to jane and then it makes sense when she says 'i didn't come over here to ask for a hand'
uh-huh
